How can we find good Schools or Universities for international Students in Canada?

Canada offers a range of student offerings, including elementary and high schools, post-secondary institutions (colleges and universities), private vocational schools, and language schools. Once you have chosen a school, it should be on the list of Designated Educational Institutions. This list indexes the educational institutions approved by Canada for the admission of international students. A study permit is issued only to those who study at a Designated Educational Institution.

How to study as an international Student in Quebec?

To study in the province of Quebec, you must first have a letter of acceptance from a Designated Educational Institution in the city of Quebec where you intend to study. In addition, you must have received the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (QAC) issued by the Province of Quebec. Then you can apply for a study permit.

Do we need a Permit to study in Canada?

Most foreign countries require a study permit to study in Canada, while some people with special conditions may not need one. It is significant to know that you must apply for a study permit before coming to Canada, as only a few people can apply for a study permit from within Canada, so you must have received an acceptance letter from a Designated Educational Institution in Canada before applying. Also, you should know that academic permission is not a travel document, as it only allows you to study in Canada. You may also need a visitor visa (temporary residence visa) or eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) to enter Canada. If your study permit is approved, you will be issued a visitor visa, or eTA, depending on the degree required to enter Canada.

How to apply for a Study Permit?

Before entering Canada, you must apply for a training permit. Before applying, you should have received an acceptance letter from a Designated Educational Institution in Canada. Whether you are outside of Canada or within Canada, you must apply for your study permit online. If you can’t request online due to a disability or problem, you can do so in writing.

If CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada)  rejects the Application for a Student Permit, will the Money be refunded?

No. You won’t be able to get your money back if the CIC does not accept your training permit application.

Can I still apply for a Study Permit if I live in Canada?

Yes, you can apply for a training permit while in Canada. Depending on where you are applying, you should follow the relevant instructions and use the required forms. Some people will not need a study permit to study in Canada if their class or program lasts less than six months or if they have one of the other exceptions.

Do we need a medical Examination to study in Canada?

Yes, in the following cases, you need a medical examination to study in Canada:

• You come from a Designated Country/Region and must have a Visa to enter Canada.
• You will be in this Country for more than six months.
• You are a medical student.
• You are active in Health Care or any other field that puts you in close contact with Children or the elderly.

If we are foreign Students in Canada, can we have a Job?

If your degree is on conditions that state you can work on or off-campus, you will be able to work while studying. Also, you can only start working in Canada once you have begun your training program.

As a licensed student, you may be able to work on or off-campus without a work permit, so make sure you qualify before finding a job. You can:

1. Work either as an intern or while studying.

If your training program includes a partnership or internship, you must obtain a work permit; so it is better to get acquainted with the method of applying for a partnership work permit. Or

1. Work after graduation.

After graduation, you can apply for a PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit).

If you are eligible to enter Canada, a border services officer or immigration officer may allow you to stay for less or more than six months:

• In this case, the Departure Date from the Country is in your Passport, and you may also receive a Certificate;
• If your Passport is unstamped, you can either stay in Canada for up to six months from the time you arrive or until your Passport expires, whichever comes first;
• If you need a stamp, you can get it from a border Service Officer or Immigration Officer.

If you want to stay there longer than the authorized period, you must apply for a visa extension at least 30 days before the end of the authorized period of your stay.

Do we need a Visa to visit Canada?

Most travelers need a visa or an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly or transit through a Canadian airport.

What you need depends on:

• Type of Travel Document;
• The Country that issued your Travel Document;
• Your Nationality;
• How you travel to Canada

What Documents must be submitted to travel to Canada with a minor Child and without a Spouse?

You must provide the following documents:

• A Copy of the Child’s Birth Certificate;
• The Permission Letter, and if possible, the Address and Phone Number of that Parent, in English or French, should be included in the Permission Letter;
• A Photocopy of the Passport or National ID Card signed by the non-accompanying parent

If the parents are separated or divorced and have shared custody of the child, the parent traveling with the child must bring copies of the legal custody documents.

If one of the child’s parents is deceased, the traveling parent must bring a copy of the death certificate.

Should I apply for both a Visitor Visa and an eTA?

No. If you plan to travel to Canada, you will only need one of these two types of visas: a valid visitor visa or a valid eTA.

What is LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment)?

Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that an employer in Canada may need before hiring a foreign worker.

A positive LMIA indicates that a foreign worker is required to fill the job, and no Canadian worker or permanent resident is available. A positive LMIA is sometimes called a confirmation letter.

If an LMIA is required, the employer must apply for it.

Once the employer receives the LMIA, the worker can apply for a work permit.

A worker needs the following to apply for a work permit:

• Job Offer Letter;
• Contract or Agreement;
• Copy of LMIA;
• LMIA Number.

Who needs an LMIA Degree?

Employers require a range of temporary workers to obtain a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before a worker can apply for a work permit. The LMIA is a document from the Canadian Institute for Employment and Social Development which allows an employer to hire a temporary worker.

So if you are an employer, it’s better to know if you need an LMIA or not. If you are a worker, you should be aware of the following:

• The Type of Work Permit you can apply for it;
• Steps your employer must follow before submitting your Work Permit Application.

Does an Entrepreneur need an LMIA to work in Canada?

No. You can apply for a work permit without a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) if you are planning to start a business in Canada which will create or maintain the following values:

• Significant economic, cultural, and social benefits;
• Job Creation for Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

Can a Spouse and dependent Children come to Canada with one Person?

If you are coming to Canada for a short time, your spouse and children under your care can come to Canada with you or visit you in Canada, provided that:

• Meeting all the requirements for temporary residence in Canada;
• The immigration officer has convinced them that they will only be staying in Canada temporarily;
• If necessary, you can prove they do not have a criminal record;
• If you are from a Country or Region whose Citizens need a Visa to enter Canada as a Visitor, they must meet all the Requirements for a temporary resident visa.

If you are planning to stay in Canada permanently, your spouse and children under your care can come to Canada with you if:

• You and your Family Members can meet your needs (for example, have the Income to support your Family Members financially);
• Your children are eligible for Custody;
• Your Family Members are not unacceptable in Canada.

This program is done once a year and allows citizens and permanent residents in Canada to financially support their parents and grandparents so they can stay in Canada.

1: If you are eligible to become a sponsor, you must prove your interest by submitting a financial support form.

2: When the period for submitting the online form has passed, the officials will check them. In this study, they randomly pick out qualified financial sponsors and allow them to support their parents and grandparents. Then they email the invitations and post the status of the invitation on the site.

3: If you are allowed to apply, you must send it by the deadline specified in the invitation.

If you live in the province of Quebec, remember that the conditions of the residency program there are fundamentally different from those of other states.

You can calculate it through the Notice of Assessment (NOA) attached to the (Canada Revenue Agency) CRA.

How can we get our NOAs?

If you do not have a paper copy of your NOAs, you can view and print your tax return through the CRA’s online account service.

How can we calculate our “Number of Family Members” to include the Incomes for financial Support?

You should include these people:

• Yourself;
• Your Spouse (who can also be one of the Signatories);
• Children under your Guardianship (or children under the Sponsorship of your Spouse);
• Any other person with provided financial support in the past;
• Parents and Grandparents you want to support financially and their Dependents (Spouse and dependent children, if any);
• Your Parent’s Estranged Spouse or your Grandparent’s Estranged Spouse.

Example 1

Narges supports her mother and stepfather financially. Narges’ husband, Sahand, helps her by providing the revenue she needs by jointly signing the request for financial support. Narges and Sahand have two small children, 5 and 7 years old. Narges’ stepfather has a 15-year-old daughter named Minoo. Minoo will not immigrate to Canada with his father.

Therefore, the number of people in Narges’s family is seven people:

• Narges;
• Sahand (Narges’ Husband);
• His two children;
• His Mother and Stepfather;
• Minoo (Narges’ Stepdaughter).

Considering that Minoo is a dependent child, even if she does not immigrate to Canada, she is still part of the family.

Before Narges expresses her interest in the sponsorship form, Narges and her husband must:

• Check the Income Table to see if they have the required revenue for seven People;
• Check their Tax Data from the last three years and have met the minimum Income Requirements during this period.

In what Cases may your permanent Residence Request face Problems?

The processing of your permanent residence request will be hard in the following cases:

• The Contact Information of the file (Address, Phone, and email) is old, and it is impossible to contact you or one of your Family Members;
• Additional Documents are not ready on time;
• Your Dependents have turned 18 when you apply;
• After sending your request, the Number of People in your Family has increased;
• Your Dependents have married or had children since you applied;
• You have submitted legal documents to confirm the Change of your marital status or the Guardianship of your Children;
• You or one of your Family Members must resend the Confirmation of your medical examinations due to the Expiration of their times;
• You or a Family Member should attend an Interview;
• You or a Family Member may not qualify;
• The Background Check on you or your Family Members is still ongoing.

What Document is needed to prove the Relationship of our Parents or Grandparents?

In most cases, a marriage certificate is enough to prove the relationship of your parents or grandparents, but there are exceptions:

• If one of them has died, you must provide a Death Certificate;
• If they do not have a Marriage Certificate; If you can’t provide their Marriage Certificate, provide a full explanation of why you don’t have one;
• If your parents divorced some time ago and you don’t know where they are; if your Parents are divorced, you can submit their Notarized Divorce Certificate. It is also possible that an Officer in Charge of Document Follow-Up may request more documents from you.

To avoid phone scams, remember that IRCC does not:

• Receiving or Paying Money by Phone, Prepaid Credit Cards, or private Money Transfer Service Providers (such as PayPal or MoneyGram). So by thinking about how you pay off your Fees, you will better understand how IRCC collects the Payments;
• Or asking you to reconfirm the Basic Personal Information you previously provided in a form

In some phone scams, the caller pretends to be the police or an immigration officer and warns you that you have broken the law; this may be a scam or a phishing scheme in the following cases:

• Make you pay;
• Or ask for your Personal Information (Birth Date, Passport Number, Bank Account or Credit Card Information, etc.);
• Or threaten to have your account suspended, arrested, jailed, lose your Visa or Status, or deported if you don’t pay or disclose your Personal Information.

Be aware that scammers often give a fake name and agent number to appear legitimate. So if you think the caller is a scammer, it’s best to do the following:

• Ask for the Representative’s Name and Number;
• And call the Center to confirm the Representative’s Identity.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and:

• If you have lost your money, call your local police directly;

• Report the Incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center.

Is getting an Email from an Immigration Officer a Scam?

To prevent email fraud, remember that:

• IRCC will never send an email to Applicants to confirm the Original Personal Information provided in the Application Forms;
• IRCC never uses the Bank’s Details or Credit Card Information to collect Payments via email;
• Checking your Payment Type to find out how IRCC collects Payments;

• IRCC never sends Visas, Permits, Certificates, or Immigration Documents by email;

• IRCC never offers particular suggestions with a Time Limit and suggests Cash Transactions for obtaining Visas, Permits, or Citizenship Status.

The email you received may be a scam or a phishing scheme in the following cases:

• You received an email that you did not expect;

• When your email is from a private address or free email services (such as Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, or Gmail) and is not from the Government of Canada’s “gc.ca” email account;

• The email should use a Greeting such as “Dear Customer/Customer” instead of your real name;
• The Sender asks you to update, execute or confirm your Personal Information such as Birth Date, Password, Credit Card, or Bank Account Details;

• They have told you that immediate action is required to prevent negative Consequences such as Cancellation of your Application or Suspension of your Account;

• The email sent Advertises Certain Immigration or Citizenship, which sounds

great;

• The Links in the email claim to take you to a secure site, but they direct you to a commercial or fake site that is not an IRCC or Government of Canada Website;

• This email contains an Attachment, which you did not request;

• The Message in the email should contain an Image instead of Text.

Structure of IRCC Emails

The email address contains the following:

• @cic.gc.ca, where “CIC” stands for “Citizenship and Immigration Canada”;

• @canada.ca;

• @international.gc.ca.

The email is usually from an unresponsive account.

They give agendas in the email:

• For example, if they want you to send additional documents, it should not be by replying to that email; instead, you should follow the instructions in the email to submit your requested documents;

• IRCC encourages Applicants to use the IRCC Web Form to better communicate about upcoming programs;

• IRCC will send an email to Applicants through their Accounts;

• After making a Phone Call to the IRCC Call Center, the Representative may send you an email containing more Data about your Question, which is from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and the Subject is Request for Information;

• The Representative you spoke with has signed your email, and you cannot reply to this email;

If you receive a suspicious email, do not respond to it. You can report this to the following centers:

• Your local police;

• And the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

How to Report a Scam or Fraud in Progress?

Immigration Fraud

Call the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Toll-Free Patrol Hotline to report the following:

• Suspicious Border Activity;

• Fake marriage;

• A person who gave False Information about an Immigration Application;

• Or a persecuted person.

What you tell the guidance center is confidential, and you don’t have to tell your name; they don’t record phone calls either.

Citizenship Fraud

You can also send an email to report the following people:

• Those who pretend to live in Canada to become Citizens;

• Or those who keep information about their Case hidden.

And as far as possible, include the following information in your Report:

• A person who is a Canadian Citizen or has applied for Citizenship;

• Person’s Name;

• Birth Date;

• Address;

• Phone Number;

• Employment Information;

• Individual Working Hours;

• Shipping Methods;

• Physical Description;

• And Details about the Situation (such as criminal activity, Misrepresentation, and Fraud);

The information provided is also confidential, and there is no need to disclose your name.

If you have been a victim of phone, internet, email, or other scams and have inadvertently provided personal or financial information, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre:

• Or through their Website.
