Full-time students with valid study permits can help their spouse apply for a permanent work permit and work immigration to Canada. A permanent work permit allows an international student’s spouse to work there.
Eligible students in this program:
– Must be a full-time student.
– And have a valid educational license from the state institution of higher education.
– Or have a valid educational license from a private institution of higher education that operates following the laws and regulations similar to the state institution. It also receives half of its total budget from government grants.
– Or have a valid educational license from a private institution to grant academic qualifications according to provincial regulations.
This permanent work permit allows the holders to immigrate to Canada to work for any employer in Canada. This work permit does not require a job offer or is subject to labor market evaluation. This permanent work permit may not cover specific occupations such as working in schools or hospitals.
Determining the Time of the Spouse’s Work Permit and the Action Process
Canadian visa offices abroad can apply for both work and study permits. In such cases, applicants for work immigration to Canada must consider the cost of a work permit and a training license.
On the other hand, a spouse or legal partner may come to Canada as a tourist and apply for a permanent work permit upon arrival. Citizens of countries where a temporary Canadian residence visa is not required may apply for a work permit upon arrival in Canada.
