The official job bank of the Canadian government&#8217;s website can be a good place to search for jobs that may qualify for a positive LMIA.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">You need to request a change in your work permit from your new employer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: #fcfc36;\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: <\/span>Your new employer must pay for the LMIA. It is illegal for employers to charge you for this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: #fcfc36;\"><strong>Note<\/strong>:<\/span> If you have an open work permit, you can work for any employer and change your employer at any time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Can my employer take my passport or identification documents?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>If my employer terminates me, what are my rights?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you have been employed for 3 consecutive months or more, your employer must:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Provide you with written notice in advance, or<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pay your wages in lieu of notice, or<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A combination of both.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>However, if you have:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Complained about health and safety violations,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Refused to perform unsafe work, or<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reported these issues to the Ministry of Labour,<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In such cases, your employer is not allowed to terminate you. Some of the major immigration programs in Canada include:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Provincial Nominee Program<\/li>\n<li>Canadian Experience Class<\/li>\n<li>Federal Skilled Worker Program<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Can I keep a copy of the contract for myself?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: #fcfc36;\"><strong>Important<\/strong>:<\/span> If you believe your employer is not paying your wages, contact the Ministry of Labour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Deductions from your wages may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Income Tax:<\/strong> Federal and provincial income taxes based on your earnings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canada Pension Plan (CPP):<\/strong> Monthly benefits for workers in retirement.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Employment Insurance (EI):<\/strong> Temporary financial assistance if you lose your job.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How many hours am I expected to work per day?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0You are expected to work <span style=\"background-color: #fcfc36;\">8 hours<\/span> per day. If you work more than 44 hours per week, you are entitled to overtime pay at a rate of 1.5 times your regular wages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How much vacation time can I take?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You are entitled to 24 consecutive hours of vacation every week and 48 consecutive hours of vacation every two weeks. This period can be taken between 8 weeks before the newborn&#8217;s birth and 17 weeks after the newborn&#8217;s birth.<\/li>\n<li>Each parent can use up to 35 weeks of EI benefits within 52 weeks after the newborn&#8217;s birth or adoption.<\/li>\n<li>Individuals eligible due to a family member&#8217;s imminent death can use up to 6 weeks of EI benefits to care for that person.<\/li>\n<li>Those unable to work due to illness can receive up to 6 weeks of EI benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can obtain more information about Service Canada by calling 1-800-206-7218 or visiting the Service Canada website.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is my medical coverage?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your employer is responsible for providing private health insurance for the first 3 months of your residence in Canada. After 3 months, you become eligible for Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) coverage.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>As soon as you enter Canada, you should familiarize yourself with the details of your private insurance. You don&#8217;t need to be ill to get this information, and private insurance often has exceptions.
